Just like with Lanzarote, there’s a reason why the Costa Blanca is so popular with tourists and expats alike. It has everything you could wish for. Sunshine, great food and drink, and a healthy outdoors lifestyle. It comes as no surprise that the Costa Blanca is a dream destination for many.
Costa Blanca is the name given to Alicante’s coastline in Spain. Thanks to its particular geography this 200km stretch of land on the southeastern coast of the country is subjected to its own particular micro-climate. The benefits of this will be explained later.
The Costa Blanca Is In Spain
Seems quite a silly, obvious, thing to say, doesn’t it? Of course it is in Spain. Where else could it be?
But Spain is important as in a 2019 Bloomberg health index study it was recognised as the healthiest country in the world.
The study ranked 169 economies worldwide based on a number of health variables like life expectancy, obesity, access to clean water, etc. And Spain, which has the highest life expectancy at birth in the EU, came out tops.
Costa Blanca Has A Healthy Micro-climate
As well as being in the healthiest country Costa Blanca is recognised by the World Health Organisation as having the healthiest climate.
Averaging almost 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, with around 97 clear days, and only around 336 millimetres (about 37 days) of rain, it is certainly a very welcoming climate.
As well as being welcoming, however, it can also be very good for your health. Sunlight helps to produce vitamin D which has been shown to benefit a range of conditions like bone strength.
Costa Blanca is recognised as being a great area for people that suffer with skins problems like eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, or for people with allergies, or breathing problems like asthma.
It is also known to benefit people with rheumatism or other muscle and joint problems as well as people with minor mental health issues like Seasonal Affective Disorder which can arise due to a lack of sunlight.
The Mediterranean Diet
We can’t talk about the healthiest country and the healthiest micro-climate without mentioning the other big factor in that health status. The Mediterranean diet.
Renowned for its fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. And its use of olive oil, nuts and legumes. The Mediterranean diet is probably one of the healthiest around. The diet contains a lot fewer meats and carbohydrates than the typical UK diet but more plant-based foods and ‘good’ monounsaturated fat.
It has been studied rigorously and is believed to have great health benefits for your heart in particular.
The US National library of medicine says that ‘following the Mediterranean diet may lead to more stable blood sugar, lower cholesterol and triglycerides, and a lower risk for heart disease and other health problems’.
If you are planning on moving abroad then it makes sense that you may consider Costa Blanca as your dream destination. It would be a wise, healthy, choice. A great step towards a brighter, happier you. Your future self will thank you for it. A future self who statistically may get to enjoy a longer, healthier, happier life than most of us. Particularly those of us still dealing with the poorer climate and diet of the UK.
But wanting to move there is one thing. Finding somewhere to live there is another. And the best way to find somewhere to live? Find someone who knows all the best places, has access to all the best properties, and who can take the hassle out of finding your dream property in your dream destination.
